November Birthdays!

November 5th is my nephew Nathan's 12th Birthday. (Nathan is my oldest brother, Todd's son) Nathan loves to play, watch and eat football! Happy Birthday Nathan!!
November 8th is Matt's sister's husband's birthday. That was a sentence...but just so you know. Marc is the most down to earth, nicest person you will ever meet. I always love hanging out with him when we go to Ohio.

November 14th is my sister in law, Stacy's birthday. She is married to my oldest brother, Todd. Stacy is very talented with her hands. She cut hair for many years and was one of the best! She loves to decorate and remodel her house. Happy Birthday, Stacy.

November 15th is my nephew Blake's 19th Birthday. Blake is Matt's Sister's Son. The size of the picture doesn't mean how much we love you...I can't figure out why some come across smaller. Blake is leaving to serve a mission on December 17 for two years in the Salt Lake South Mission. He couldn't be more excited and we couldn't be more proud of him. Happy Birthday, Blake!

Our First NFL Game

Matt got tickets for a suite at the TEXANS game this past weekend from work.  So we took the boys to their first NFL game against the BENGALS.   The Texans won 35-6.  The boys thought the whole experience was awesome, right down to the all you can eat drinks, ice-cream and food!

I HATE Daylight Savings Time

For those of you that REALLY know me. Know that I hate Daylight Savings Time. EVERY stinkin 6 months my internal clock is messed up and it takes me forever to get back on track. I don't know why but last fall it took me till December to stop waking up at 5 am instead of 6 am.
So this month, I have been hoping it wouldn't happen again. My trusty calendar that I bought at Big Lots has Oct 26 marked as Daylight Savings. So of course, I highlighted it and I have been thinking about this week. Last night around 9:30 as I was reading I was nodding off but I thought I can't go to sleep now because this would be like going to bed at 8:30 and I will be up really early. Well wouldn't you know it I woke up at my usual 6 am time today and thought it's really only 5 am...here we go. So I go get on the computer and I check a few blogs. The first one that I read says, "Sorry to anyone that I told it was Daylight Savings Tomorrow...it's really next week" WHAT.. are you kidding me. My calendar says it's today. So, I google it and yep, it's NEXT Sunday. I guess it wouldn't have been good to show up an hour late for 8:30 am church..huh. Or maybe I will and pretend that I never saw that blog.
Just wait until I have to go wake up that sleepy man in my bed. He went to bed thinking he was getting an extra hour of sleep too.
Should I take my defected calendar back to Big Lots? Do you think they will give me my dollar back?
Click on the calendar to enlarge if you don't believe me!

Twilight Series

"As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. Twilight discovers a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he's a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship."

For Book Club this month, we were discussing the Twilight Series. I enjoyed reading the first three books but not so much the last book, Breaking Dawn. Bella got what she had wanted all along in the last book and that was told in the first few chapters. Then the book went on for another 600 pages. It didn't keep me wanting to read and read like the other 3 books had.

I dressed up like a vampire for the book club with "eyeblack" for lipstick, black (batman) cape and red (from the camera) eyes. (eyeblack is the stuff you put under you eyes when you play baseball)

These ladies decided to put "candy corn" in for their fangs. (click to enlarge) I like the green fangs best!
We had a great time. We took a quiz for some vampirish prizes and the person that got the most right was someone my mom's age. Kind of funny since this is a "young adult" book.

So the question is: did you like series and are you excited for the movie?

Take Me out to the Ball Game

Baseball season has begun at our house again.  Which means that is pretty much all we will be doing for the next 2 months.  Christopher is in kid pitch this fall.  He was the first pitcher for his game on Saturday. He had four strike outs in two innings.
He is on the Dodgers team and Matt is the assistant coach.

Garrett is in Machine Pitch this fall.  He is on the Royals team.  The score from last night was 19-2.  They were on a roll.  We wanted to win but we didn't need to beat them that bad!

Garrett loves baseball!

Happy Birthday Dad, Alicia, Jill and Hayden

Today is my dad's 64th Birthday.  He has always been there for me.  This is a picture of us dancing at a daddy/daughter date twenty something years ago and it seems like just yesterday. Hope you enjoyed the singing wake up call early this am.  Sorry, we sometimes forget about the time difference.  Have fun on your bike ride!
My dad has taken up bike riding in the past 2 years and a few weeks ago he came in first place in a race for his age group.  Way to go!  (I can't seem to make the picture any bigger...)
Matt's niece, Alicia is having a birthday on Oct 7th.  Alicia got married this summer and is enjoying her newlywed lifestyle.  Enjoy this time of your life, Alicia.
Oct 11th is my sister in law Jill's Birthday.  Isn't she beautiful with her two babies.  We wish you a Happy Birthday and many more years of happiness.
Oct 25th is my nephew's birthday, Hayden.  Here is picture of Hayden taking out the quarterback.  Way to go Hayden.  Christopher and Garrett are sending you birthday wishes from Texas and wish they could see you in your football action!
